Torrione di Forio

The Torrione of Forio is one of the most important historical structures on the island of Ischia and a symbol of the Mediterranean coastal defense tradition. Built in the Middle Ages as a watchtower against Saracen raids, it stands in a strategic position on the seafront of Forio's historic center, dominating the surrounding landscape.
Over time, the tower lost its military function and was redeveloped as a cultural space and museum, hosting exhibitions and events dedicated to local history and Ischian tradition. From its summit, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and the village, especially at sunset, when the landscape is bathed in warm colors. The Torrione is now one of Forio's most recognizable landmarks.
