Piazza dei Martiri, 1, 80079 Procida NA
Baroque church of Procida located in Piazza dei Martiri, near Terra Murata and Corricella, an important Marian sanctuary and panoramic point on the island.
The Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie Incoronata is one of Procida's most important churches and is located in Piazza dei Martiri, along the route connecting the historic center to Terra Murata and the Corricella Marina. The church was built on a pre-existing chapel dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie, documented in the 16th century, and was expanded to its current form in the 17th century.
The building features a Baroque style with a Greek cross plan and an interior richly decorated with stucco, side altars, and paintings from the Neapolitan school. The main altar houses the image of the Madonna delle Grazie, an object of great popular devotion, enriched over time with votive offerings and decorations as a sign of thanksgiving.
The sanctuary has strong ties to the island's social and religious history and overlooks one of Procida's most evocative vantage points, overlooking the Corricella and the sea. It is also a central site in local religious traditions, especially during Marian festivals and processions.
