Casale Vascello is one of Procida's oldest and most characteristic settlements, located at the foot of the Terra Murata hill. Built between the 17th century and the period following the end of the Saracen invasions, it was one of the island's first "extra moenia" settlements, developing outside the defensive walls of the old town.
The complex is built around a large central courtyard, overlooked by houses built closely together, compactly constructed for defense and space reasons. The houses, typical of Procida's architecture, are characterized by bright colors, arches, and small traditional balconies known as "vefi," elements that give the village a distinctive and scenic appearance.
The Casale has two main entrances, connected to historic streets in the center, and still retains a cozy and authentic atmosphere, almost suspended in time. It is a place that reflects the daily life of the most traditional Procida, made up of quiet alleys, shared courtyards, and popular Mediterranean architecture.
