Ieranto Bay is a marine protected area located on the Sorrento Peninsula, in the Massa Lubrense area. It is famous for its crystal-clear waters, views of the Gulf of Naples, and access via a nature trail.
Ieranto Bay is located in the municipality of Massa Lubrense and is one of the most spectacular natural areas in Campania. It is part of the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area and overlooks the stretch of sea between the Sorrento Peninsula and the islands of the Gulf of Naples.
The bay can only be reached on foot via a scenic trail starting from Nerano, a feature that has helped preserve its pristine environment. The route passes through olive groves, Mediterranean scrub, and panoramic viewpoints offering extraordinary views of Capri and the Faraglioni.
The water is particularly clear and the seabed is rich in biodiversity, making the area ideal for nature hikes and snorkeling (where permitted). Ieranto Bay is also rich in history and legends related to the ancient limestone quarrying in the area.
